- diphtheritic and throat affections where the cervical and parotid glands are enormously swollen
- membrane begins on or is worse on the right side
- worse by warm drinks and empty swallowing
- thick yellow coating at base of tongue
- tip and edges of tongue red
- right side of throat and neck most affected
- hunterian (hard) chancre
- secondary symptoms rarely follow if given in proper dose
- great swelling of inguinal glands, no disposition to suppurate
